Lifelong learning experience also continues after the students graduates the Programme. The EJMSBM Alumni Network creates a springboard for various opportunities, enabling alumni to interact with each other, assume the role of mentors for new generations of the EJMSBM students, act as the EJMSBM ambassadors, and contribute to pursuing excellence in border and coast guard education and training.

Mission

The mission of the Alumni Network is to provide networking opportunities through various initiatives and events that will foster relationships among alumni, students, teaching staff, consortium members and Frontex. The Alumni will stay connected via an online community in Moodle and LinkedIn , where alumni and current students can connect with new and old colleagues, receive information about various events, opportunities and network professionally and take advantage of diverse tangible benefits.

Vision

A dynamic network of active alumni who contribute to the objectives of the Programme and act as ambassadors of the EJMSBM; a network with strong ties to the border and coast guard community and is recognised as a valuable resource; a network that promotes applied research and ensures efficient dissemination of results to benefit the community.

EJMSBM Alumni Network has the following objectives:

Give back
The EJMSBM alumni will encourage prospective students to join the European Joint Master’s in Strategic Border Management. The EJMSBM alumni will act as the Joint Master’s ambassadors by exploiting their knowledge, experience, strategic and leadership skills:

  • To promote postgraduate alumni insights;
  • To promote enrolment opportunities.

Reconnect
The EJMSBM alumni are provided with the platform to keep contact with their fellows, meet and share latest career developments. LinkedIn group will provide various opportunities to post news, stories and discuss latest events.

Lifelong engagement
By fostering, maintaining and expanding the contacts of the EJMSBM Alumni Network, it is intended to promote lifelong alumni engagement to:

  • attract and retain the best expertise;
  • continuously improve pursuing excellence;
  • foster strategic communication;
  • disseminate research findings through Master’s on the Road initiative and other events;
  • take part in scholarships and fellowships.

Mentor

Alumni enhance the students experience by contributing to the mentoring and student support system established for the EJMSBM.
Within the scope of a mentor’s role they are available to :

  • Assist students with orientation to the Programme;
  • Give students help and advice on non-academic matters and refer them for further assistance if required;
  • Guide students through the Programme;
  • Encourage an open exchange of ideas, including pursuit of the student’s ideas;
  • Provide guidance and serve as a role model for upholding the highest ethical standards;
  • Facilitating interactions with other students, consortium, and in the wider professional community.

Expand
The EJMSBM alumni are given tools to replenish their professional network and discover new opportunities for development.

Pursue excellence
The EJMSBM alumni are invited to participate in the EJMSBM Boards and Quality Assurance Committee meetings and work for continuous Programme improvement. Their valuable feedback and further strategic views would contribute greatly on the positive Programme development and enhancing new student experience.
The EJMSBM graduates are encouraged to participate in developing new training tools and updating the existing ones by making them operationally relevant.
